Who we are

Partners For Progress SWPA is a volunteer group, associated with Indivisible, that works to amplify the voices of its members and allies in Southwestern Pennsylvania through active engagement in electoral politics, community education, and issues advocacy.

Mission

Our mission is to identify and support strong, democratic candidates at the local, state, and federal levels, educate and mobilize voters, and collaborate with grassroots and non-profit organizations committed to social justice in our region and beyond.

Title of Committee Descriptions, 1 of 3. There are 4 Teams described on this slide. The Executive Committee’s goal is to support all teams in completing their objectives. Members of this group will: provide guidance on strategies and tactics; ensure the smooth running of the supporting tools of the organization; control the budget; plan monthly meetings; liaison with local, state and national Indivisible groups. The Communications Team is responsible for developing  communication strategies and tactics for getting the word out about the organization’s activities. This team will maintain the organization’s website, social media presence, disseminate emails; coordinate press outreach; select the tools the organization will use to communicate and manage event RSVPs. The Fundraising Team will work with the Executive Committee to identify the financial needs of the organization.  This group will also be responsible for writing grants and planning and conducting the necessary fundraising activities to meet the needs of the organization. All fundraising activities will follow Indivisible rules and guidelines and this team will keep track of the financial position of the organization. The Membership Team is responsible for welcoming new members, helping them get connected with our communication tools  and assisting them with finding activities and events to participate in. This team will also maintain our database and mailing list, as well as  conduct membership surveys when needed.

The Community Education Team will be responsible for identifying any educational events, i.e., informational forums and training that would be helpful for organization members. Issue Advocacy and Elections Team will be responsible for researching local, state and federal issues and candidates with the goal of identifying which the organization will support. The research done by this team will ensure the actions the organization takes are based on accurate information.
Title of Committee Descriptions, 3 of 3. There is 1 Team and 2 Sub-Teams described on this slide. The Event Planning Team will be responsible for creating, organizing, and executing  events, including larger  planned  rallies and protests as part of a Day of Action called for by  Indivisible National, regular organization meetings, other rallies and protest events, and fast action events in response to both local and national crises. The Fast Action Sub-Team is responsible for planning and coordinating rallies and other peaceful defiance activities sometimes on very short notice. These activities can be in response to any objectionable, anti-democratic actions. Leaders of this group will: maintain a list of members who are willing and able to volunteer on short notice; decide on what type of event and what the program for the event will be; select action sites that are lawful to occupy; deploy the necessary equipment to the action site; work with the safety team to ensure the safety of participants at the action site; work with the Communications Team to ensure the success of the event. The Safety Sub-Team is responsible for providing the necessary trained safety personnel to ensure the safety of our participants at the action site.
